What other directories do you recommend besides Yahoo / DMOZ
I am looking to submit my site to some directories that would either have some traffic or help with PageRank. Which ones do you recommend besides Yahoo and DMOZ?

I recently tried LookSmart and their traffic quality was complete garbage with an over 90% bounce rate.submit wrote:In addtion, there is Looksmart, which is CPC based. Since CPC starts at 15 cents and cheaper than Google and Overture, I recommend it.
the visual PageRank display only updates quarterly.Edgar wrote:www.uncoverthenet.com Has a page rank 0.
agreed. I know the owner and he has more backlinks than many established directories. both he and Nandini ( http://www.webatlas.org ) have built a ton of links into their sites (I helped Nandini get some of her links and just about everywhere I submitted her site he already was listed + he joined the W3C)Anonymous wrote:yeap, i know it is pagerank 0. This is also my first time submitting to a PR0 site. But the next PR update, i think it will gain a very high PR.
Do a reseach about this site and it is spending a lot of money getting links from PR9 to PR7 site. Take a look
Trust me....
the Toolbar PageRank display appears to now be updated quarterly, but the actual PageRank comes quicker. the top rankings take a bit more time though.submit wrote:Don't keep your hopes up on getting a PageRank soon, due to Sandbox algorithm. See the below post for details:

I'm a newbie to all this, I wanted to say that this forum is the most informative for someone who is new to the seo game. Also, most of the directories listed last are more expensive now, but still good advise. I am currently looking to invest in an seo company, however i was wondering if it was better for myself to research and do my own directory and text link listings rather than paying someone to do it. I have the time, however my knowledge on listings and where to look is limited. Are directories a good place to start? The text link ads seem costly, though i'm sure it is something i need to do as well. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

There are so many directories out there that many people dont even know about. Try using some of the directories here which consist of both paid and free listings. Directories help with PR as we all know and having a good amount of them cant really hurt you. Check it out and do some submissions and then patience is key!
