Do large images stop web crawlers?

Post by dovid »

I've heard that having large images near the top of the page can stop web crawlers from searching a page and then they could leave? Is this true?

(Our web design firm has designed the website with large images at the top of the pages with the copy below. Our SEO company says that having large images near the top of the page can stop web crawlers from searching a page, and they could leave.)

Image size does not affect crawling of your site. You should use a good keyword rich alt tag for that image instead, which will help you…

search engines spiders cant read/see images... Large images are also the reason for slow page loading (depends on the file size)
