i think if you buy an expired domain is good if this domain has qualified external links - you can know this by type ("link : "www.domainname.com") in any search engine ( yahoo , google , msn ) then you can determine if it is deserve or not.

if it's on DMOZ buy it straight away, will save you many a month waiting to get in <if you ever do get it>. A listing in DMOZ will get you Yahoo, AOL, Ask, and many more search engines all eager to point to your site. Otherwise don't bother.
I don't think expired domain worthy nothing.
since there are still quite many backlinks, expired domain would get some PR on next update. I just bought PR 5 one http://www.cbgred.com and still in google index. However, another PR 3 domain http://www.thenextlink.com de-indexed.

submit wrote:Google is detecting expired domains and making their links and PageRank zero. It does not help with Google to get expired domains, specially if they are the common ones, .com, .net, .org. Maybe if you tried to get a country level TLD domain Google might not be checking the expired domain databases of all TLD's, but then again it is extremily tough to track down such TLD expired domains as no database system exists for them.
Expired domain might still help in Yahoo, MSN and others. I have not heard anything if other engines are penalizing the expired domains.
If the expired domain has good history and the site getting lots of backlinks from other sites then...
