I've just started with a dedicated server and am migrating 5 sites to it.
With the hosting plan, you purchase IP addresses as needed (none were included initially).
You have to purchase at least 1 IP (for your first website). In the control panel they list that website as having a "dedicated" IP.
For your remaining websites, they can all be "shared" hosted on the same first IP. (So it really seems as though all of the sites are shared IP hosted.)
4 of my websites are of minor importance to me, they will all share the same IP.
One of my sites is very important to me and it is the last one I will bring to this server.
My question is, should I purchase a second IP address for this single website? Is there an advantage to doing so?
1) The cost for the IP is very minimal, and not necessarily an issue. But why spend money for no reason.
2) I full understand inter-site linking and the value of separate IP addresses. That's not concern in my situation.
In regards to handling traffic, server load, ranking, really anything at all, would purchasing a dedicated IP for this one (most important) website provide any service or benefit?

Re: Dedicated server
A dedicated server can also bail you out and save expenses up to 85%, if your website has a high traffic count but you do not have the monitory resources and technical know how to maintain, install and run your own IT staff, programs that will run everything smoothly and most of all if you cant pay for a network administrator.

Re: Dedicated server
If you don't have huge traffic to handle, a dedicated server will only mean additional expense for you. Better to buy virtual private hosting plans.
