The only problem with Alexa is they are slow in spidering your site. Your website snap a few months ago will still look the same even if you have updated your site if you check out the Alexa.

I was reading an article recently that the alexa number is only really counted when someone has the alexa toolbar installed on their computer which is usually techies or big companies I dont know however if there is any truth in this but it seems to be true.

I had a few websites before that I tried to sell which were making me some good money but a few people saw that my alexa ranking was very high which put some people off for some reason which is why I dont usually go by alexa traffic ranking.

Alexa is accurate. You can check how many traffic other websites have.

But.... some websites are blocking alexa...

For me,,alexa,google,yahoo and MSN is more important. Because its easiest to get backlinks to them.And it helps to make the keywords get to the top!!!!

I don't agree that Alexa only works for those who has it's search toolbar. Actually, it is a good guide if you only know how to maximize using it. Although it may not be that accurate, generally speaking, it would help you determine how your website is faring with concern to traffic generation. Don't expect it to generate traffic for your site, it's solely a gauge of your site's traffic.
