I try to see how many site link to me. should I type "link:mysite.com" or "link: mysite.com". They return total different results. which one is right for backlink check?

You just type "link:www.mysite.com" it will display all links.

User a tool like back link watch or rankalert.net.

I don't think using tools is accurate.. But still can help and it will serves as your basis..

At least it will show some of your link unlike Google.

Is this a real time? I tried it and thought i had some links that did not show.

When you use space in your website then it shows a have different result. The Google have link:www.mysite.com.
