directories submissions

i had submit to 400 dirctories from 3 month ago and when i look in my site rank in alexa i find that all links to my site are 15 only does these dirctories not counted in back links

Where did you checked your backlinks? Try yahoo site explorer, here:

Those results is only from alexa. Try to check your links on other search engine.

Yup, you have to check it to other search engine but sometimes directories decline some of the submissions.

Amazon is shutting down Alexa "search", I rely on yahoo site explorer (already suggested) or google webmaster tools. You will find a lot of backlinks including backlinks to internal pages.

siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ is great tool...i also used seopro.com.au/free-seo-tools/new/link-checker/ to check my backlinks...

Yahoo site explorer is the best tool to check your back links along with alexa rank[
http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com]. Also, do not submit your site to multiple directories using softwares, they may be a bit messy..

How come Google has horrible results on the backlinks? Is there a better way to find out how many backlinks Google has for a site?

yeah, directories are still important for gaining backlinks but its not like that you submit 200-400 directories and they all are accepted but some of them are declined just because of not following the guidelines of its.

Link farms directories are not counted as back links try to get links from the directories that's page rank are high.
