What about submitting blogs to directories---is it the same as
submitting a website? I'm still trying to figure out if promoting
a blog can be as prosporous as promoting a website...they are
much easier to put together for those of us who are lacking
in experience and skills at webmastering.

Hopefully someone can tell me "yes, blogs can be money makers
too."

Don't just say that though because I happen to be a "blog"
person...tell me your honest opinions... I have heard some say
directories do not like blogs, and others say it doesn't matter.

Which is right?

submitting your blog in directories helps you to gather more links.. just choose which directories you are submitting..

directories, sometimes don't help blogs if the directories is not well organized, having a lot of links in only 1 page that can be detected as link farm sites..

Well, directories is one for the best way in getting more back links which will help you to rank at SERP.

I'd say your best bet is to submit to lots of directories specifically for blogs only. Apparently the search engines like specificity.

But then there are squillions of seo friendly free general directories out there also. And more and more of them seem to have sections for blogs.

So when you've finished with the blog only directories try these general ones. Get down to the most specific level and submit your blog there.

Relevance is the key, though links from directory are weighted less than what you expected still it's a link.
