Why is it important to submit site in directories

Hi all,
Whey is it imprtant to submit site to directories? The page we will have link from will not have any PR. and in many case it will be 3to4 clicks away from home page. There will be a lot of links on the same page. So in googles mind, (as i understand) it is not having much value. Then why is it imprtant to add in dirtectories?

Question:Why is it important to submit site to directories?
Ans:To Take inbound link and some visitor.
If page is cached and it is relevant to your categories selected then it must be benefical for you.... search engine loves relevancy...

I agree, sandysags. Of course a really traffic is small but links from directories are noticeable and help you.

Directories give you one way links. And links are pretty much everything to google

The more u will add to the directories more will be your chances of getting high ranks in search engines because of more backlinks

I stopped to submit to directories and my PR have been dropped. But I don't think it is only cause.

No, we can not say actually if you stopped submit your website in directories then your Page rank drop. I think some different reasons in that case. Can you show me url. It is easy to exactly what is happened?

Inbound links are important so submitting your site to directories will boost your ranking...

Directories are important because of one thing! One-way link! But you must your in the right category or you may end up as an unrelated link and maybe disapproved!
