DMOZ is wrong
Good luck getting into that site. I have over 20 sites and not one will be listed. I have used their guidelines over and over. I've even tried being an editor but refused countless times. I think the DMOZ is crap. If it weren't for the high PR I would stop trying! lol. But really, I had to stop trying. Too much time and effort on a site that will eventually go away.

They said that getting listed in DMOZ is a good thing but doesn't guarantee high placement. So might as well focus on other things that will boost your SE ranking than worrying of getting listed in DMOZ...
That's just my opinion...

DMOZ submition
If you have a free time you can try submitting to DMOZ, but I think it's simply waisting a time. I personally started DMOZ submition a few years ago and still waiting for results. If anyone was successful with DMOZ, please let the other forum members know about it.

I am totaly agree with this. If you try to submit your site more than one time to DMOZ, your IP address and your site will ban permanantly by DMOZ.you can not submit too many times in short time, this is why they do not accept your site.

This will be a waste of your time. If you keep submitting then you will overwrite the previous submission with the date of the new submission. It can take years for a site to be approved, and this is because editors are volunteers who do this in their free time - some have more than others. Sites have to be manually deleted from the directory so there is no reason to keep submitting, once it's there, it stays there until an editor reviews it.3gman wrote:Seems like we have followed their guidelines but still no luck. I guess we'll just keep submitting the web site.
Sites can be approved in less than one week of being submitted and many sites do not submit and still get listed.sasl33 wrote:Does anyone what is the usual time to get indexed in the dmoz directory, if your website meet all their requirements to get listed?
This is not a coincidence that one was listed and the other not. Most likely what happened was the editor listed one and the other was banned from being listed. The ODP listing guidelines states that you should not submit sites along the same subject. If you have two sites that belong in the same category then that falls under "similar" content and only one will be listed. Of course, the editor has discretion and if he feels the content on both sites are so unique and great and deserve a listing then he can list them, but most likely one will be banned.Rblakney wrote:DMOZ submission seems to be hit or miss. I submited 2 sites to the same catagory at the same time (they had totally different content), and one got in in two weeks, and I am still waiting for the other one... 2 months and counting.
From step one of the Dmoz submission guidelines:
http://www.dmoz.org/add.html* Do not submit URLs that contain only the same or similar content as other sites you may have listed in the directory. Sites with overlapping and repetitive content are not helpful to users of the directory. Multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites.
