A press release is typically some type of business announcement, grand opening, new staff member, new product line, winning an award etc. They must have news value. There are some paid press release sites which will give you link backs so also traffic.

When you are specifically describe something about the company at that time press release is the best information media. Like announcing something, describing about new product offer etc. Other wise article is used for every details of the product and company. But most of the time in the article one can't directly advertise about the company where as in press release you can give company name and can provide all the necessary information about the company. length wise article is more lengthy than press release. A press release can be prepare within 300 word where as an article needs minimum 500 words. Press release gets more traffic easily rather than article.

Hi there. Press release is promoting a certain new product or service. The writer is trying to convince his/her readers to avail, buy, or get what they are promoting. While in article, writers are sharing something, it can either be informative and interesting for the viewers. And unlike in press release that the main goal is to promote their service or product, article main goal is to share stuff.
