Google news approved site visibility issues

Our technology magazine website is Google news approved, and we are regularly publishing trending news on tech-related topics. The publication is visible on the app but none of the news articles are visible in the news section of the search result page. What could be the reason behind this?
Some Youtube videos claim that it requires at least a month before it starts to pick the news in the featured area. I first thought this was an issue due to the Rankmath plugin since its sitemap was not updating. Now it seems to be working fine but the news does not get featured.
Good thing is that our website content is getting indexed fast. Please suggest possible solutions, we are working on it and if we manage to fix the issue, I'll update here to share my learnings.
