Well Sites like Digg.com are social bookmarking, a places where to go and store your web bookmarks and interact with other users. Social networks is a place where you go to communicate with other people.

Well, yes of course. Specially if you use it right both social network and social bookmarking sites. In social bookmarking, you have to share interesting and perhaps intriguing title. And in social networking sites, it would better if you have a lot of followers or friends to get your links spread out. To sum it all up, using social networking and bookmarking would give your site a boost if you post quality stuff for your viewers.

social bookmarking is completely to get organic traffic through search engines, its all about getting good back links depends on the submission where social networking is a social structure made up of individuals (or organizations) called "nodes", which are tied (connected) by one or more specific types of interdependency, such as friendship, kinship, common interest, financial exchange, dislike, sexual relationships, or relationships of beliefs, knowledge or prestige.

Yes of course, it can help your site both in traffic and backlinks. You just have to make your post in social bookmarking and social networking an attention grabber. I mean, make it more interesting to attract visitors to view your site or page. It's a matter of how convincing your post are.
