Effect of very fast ranking

Hello,
I have noticed that some people are very busy to rank their website very fast . Most of them do not accept the idea of doing off-page SEO. They think that doing off-page SEO means time wasting.
Here I have a question, does so fast ranking really effect positively on a website?
I don't think so. What do you think about?

Off page, activities are really very important to improve the page ranking. But you need to have patience to get long term results in SEO.

it depends on how they want fast ranking like with PPC or black hat SEO. it is waste of time to use black hat SEO otherwise with PPC you also do some submissions in Off-page SEO to rank well.

I think link building effects alot on Seo traffic. It helps in page authorization.
