How many keywords should be in the title of a website? I have heard so many opionions of this. Should the keyword or words be at the beginning of the title, or does that matter?

Hi,
Here are some rules :
- each title should be different for each page
- each title should contain the main keywords for that page
- it's better to start with the keywords if possible
- I'm saying if possible because the title should also attract the user so it has to have something : to promise something, to get the user curios and to make him click
- titles can have any length but most search engines display only 65 characters
- on not competitive markets you can use longer titles
- don't use the name of the company in your title; if you want to use it place it at the end; or use it at the beginning if you are very well known
These are a few rules ; if you have any question please ask

keyword should be at the beginning of the title.
Yes, this way the keyword would have more weight into the title...I wouldn't put more than one keyword into the title, ideal if the keyword is exactly the title

There is a limit of characters that will be shown in the search results so be sure your important keywords are with first few words.

Tips in properly optimizing your webpage/blog title:
1. Include the name of your business/ name of the website
2. Include your targeted keywords
3. Include your city/location
4. Use different title tag for every page but the title should reflect the content that can be found in the particular web page.
5. Use short web page titles because it can be easily read by visitors. Do not use special characters because it might not be properly displayed and your website might look strange in a SERP.
Example:
Title: mico.com - Inexpensive Shirts in Australia
But if the business is new, it is recommended to list your keywords first before the name of your business. Why? It is simply because your business it not yet popular and people might be looking for solutions to their problem. (In the example listed above, the keyword "Inexpensive Shirts was used to provide short but very informative information about your webpage.
Example:
Title: Inexpensive Shirts in Australia - mico.com
Hope it helps...

Not many, do not use title for keyword distribution and also make the title more attractive. Page title is very important even if u get top position the title is not attractive nobody will click on it... So Better add some keywords only to make some meaning related to urs niche and site and make its crackable

Try and keep your keywords down to 2-3 maximum otherwise the search engines will be less clear as to what the page is about. Its the Search engines job to categorise all content so by minimising the keywords both in the body of text and heading you make life easier for them to categorise what your page is about.

It depends on the keyword selection. I would say 3 keywords in the title tag are realistic. Also remember the 65 characters limit in Google.
