Are keywords still relavent

Are keywords still relavent :?:

I mean I'm talking meta tag keywords,

not the keywords of the body of a page,

haven't engines evolved beyond looking at meta tag keywords :?:

Google, Yahoo and MSN all claim they do not use Meta Keywords to judge relevance or for indexing purposes. There are still a few search engines that use the Keywords tag, however you are right when you say they have "evolved" and are now looking for other things besides the Meta Keywords Tag.

Links have gotten to be a really big deal, as well as linkbait and other creative tactics to increase link popularity.

Social bookmarking has grown a lot and is making a huge come back.

Still the best weapon to use would have to be quality relevant content optimized on and off the pages.

you should always make your pages friendly for all search engines, even though some do not care about keywords there are some that still do so placeing them in your site is not going to hurt you any it can only help, I would use only about 3 for 4 keyword phrases that should be enough and it does'nt look like you are spamming.

Yes ,keywords still have relevance. More emphasis should be given to keywords in title tags. No doubt more sources of promotion are there these days.. but still keywords have not lost relevance.
