How to register .edu domain?

To use .edu domain anyone should operate or represent academic institution.

Domain name registration of ".edu" domain is limited only to fully accredited postsecondary institutions of higher learning, such as four-year colleges. For the most part ".edu" domain registration is limited to schools located in the United States. EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit organization working to promote the intelligent use of information technology in education, handles ".edu" domain name registration.

These are reserved for educational institutions. So unless you represent such institution you cannot register these domains

EDUCAUSE, the association for information technology in higher education, is the sole registrar for names in the .edu domain. EDUCAUSE is awarded by Department of Commerce in October 2001. You can requests for new domain names on a first-come, first-served basis for eligible institutions.

I think this kind of domain is only for schools, education and so on. So if you are not related to this work, you will not have a chance to get this domain!

Only educational institutes can register such kind of domain because they have to present some certificates that they have educational institute or they are under government. So normal user cant register .edu domain
