DNS is a protocol that allows you to associate a domain name ,to an IP address.

How does DNS work ?

When a user types a Domain Name in his browser, in the first the computer contacts a local DNS server requesting the IP address of the domain name . If the local server cannot find the requested IP address: : The DNS server in turn may contact other DNS servers on the Internet, which it will return the IP address of the server name requested.
