It is because if u have a link at a good traffic site then search engines will autonatically index u as they are always crawling that site

You are right , never submit your site to any search engine because your site get index easily . I suggested that you submit your site to related categories and promote your site to high traffic site.

I submit to directories that have a homepage with a high pr but the page my url ends up on has 0 pr.
Is this correct?
