Domain name registration of ".edu" domain is limited only to fully accredited postsecondary institutions of higher learning, such as four-year colleges. For the most part ".edu" domain registration is limited to schools located in the United States. EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit organization working to promote the intelligent use of information technology in education, handles ".edu" domain name registration.

These are reserved for educational institutions. So unless you represent such institution you cannot register these domains
